History

Arvco Realty was started in 1970 by a gentleman named Arvid Steen-Ken who was the general partner and principal in a portfolio of commercial properties located in Southern California and Central Texas. The founding principle for starting the firm was simple: the properties should be managed by someone who treats the properties as if they were their own.

The current owners, Joan Barnes and Jeff Knavel, came to work for Arvco Realty in the 1980's. By the early 1990's they held positions as vice presidents in charge of the California and Texas markets, respectively. The steady rise in the success of the portfolio of commercial properties managed by Arvco Realty under their guidance led Mr. Steen-Ken to feel confident he had found the team that can manage the portfolio under his original premise.

Upon Mr. Steen-Ken's retirement, SD&A Partners, Inc. was founded in 1996 by Joan Barnes and Jeff Knavel and acquired the management portfolio of Arvco Realty and operates under the dba of Arvco Realty. With over 50 years of combined experience and a commercial portfolio valued at close to $100 million dollars, Arvco Realty is a boutique commercial real estate services company specializing in the management, leasing, procurement and disposition of office, industrial and small retail properties. Properties managed by Arvco Realty consistantly maintain an occupancy rate higher than the market average with a very strong tenant retention rate and longevity. The founding principle of managing a property as it were their own is at the core of every decision that is made and has been the foundation for success.

Philosophy

Arvco Realty professionally manages a portfolio of commercial properties that cater to small and mid size businesses. In addition, we are able to respond quickly to any need with our in-house leasing, management, maintenance and construction team. Unlike many management and leasing professionals you might deal with, when you are leasing space with Arvco Realty there is a high probability that you are working with an actual owner in the property as the partners in Arvco Realty have individual ownership interests in the various properties. This allows for lease contracts and decisions to be made promptly. In many cases, we are able to sign a lease and give you keys within 24 hours of first seeing a space in one of our properties.
